MS Summer Math Instructions
At Hammond School we believe that it is important for students to continue to practice their math skills during summer vacation. In order to provide immediate feedback and to re-enforce good habits, we use a web based math program called IXL Math. IXL Math is an engaging and reward based system. Summer math work for Middle School students is posted below. We ask that students work on the skills identified until they have reached at least 85% mastery. If a student is unable to reach this level of mastery despite valid and earnest attempts, teachers may recommend early extra help or intervention at the beginning of the school year. For those students who struggled in math this year, the current teacher may require the student to complete additional specific skills sets during the summer. If a student has earned 100% mastery in all of the skills sets identified, they may wish to contact their teacher to request additional enrichment. We encourage students to work on their summer math throughout the summer. IXL provides reports to teachers which outline the math skills that have been practiced and details the level of mastery that the student has achieved. Current students will be able to use their existing username and password for IXL Math. New students should contact the MS office for a username and password. Students also have access to IXL Math for the entire school year.
