Annual Tree Lighting Rings in the Holiday Season

While this 31-year tradition took on a new twist this year, not even a pandemic could stop the annual Tree Lighting that pairs Pre-kindergarteners with Seniors in a ceremonial passing of the torch. The Tree Lighting took place in the Upper School courtyard with appropriate social distancing procedures in place alongside Hammond's new outdoor stage. Held yearly at the beginning of December, the ceremony officially rings in the holiday season before students begin exams and winter break starts. Holiday readings by fourth and eighth grade students, along with the first singing performances of the school year by Bel Canto and Seven at Seven, left us all in the holiday spirit.
