Chris Herren to Speak as Part of Wellness Initiative

As part of Hammond’s wellness initiative, we are welcoming Chris Herren to campus on Thursday, January 21 to speak to our 8th-12th grade students, and their parents, about adolescent substance abuse. He will address students in an assembly during the school day, and will offer a program for Hammond parents that evening at 6:00 pm in the Bank of America Theatre.

Chris will bring a unique message of recovery and support that helps inspire and guide families to live healthy, substance-free lives. We are excited to have him work with students of ages most vulnerable to these issues.

A celebrated basketball star, Chris played at Boston College and Fresno State, two seasons in the NBA, and seven seasons overseas before losing to the disease of addiction.  In 2011, he founded the nonprofit Herren Project that helps empower schools and communities to make health and wellness a choice.
