Bralyn "BJ" Bennett, Jr.

While at Hammond, BJ earned letters in football, track, and basketball.  He was a three-year starter on three state championship football teams.  His senior season BJ was named SCISA 3-A Offensive Player of the Year, SCISA All-State, Team MVP, and Team Captain.  In his senior year, BJ rushed for over 1,000 yards and 22 touchdowns, while catching 29 passes for 418 yards and 5 touchdowns.  He was named HSSR SCISA Mr. Football.  As a track athlete, he won MVP honors at the state meet and was named SCISA 3-A Male Track Athlete of the Year.  BJ still holds the SCISA state record in the 110 hurdles and the school record in the 400 hurdles, long jump, and triple jump.  BJ earned a full scholarship to play football at Elon University, where he was a three-year starter.  As a redshirt freshman he earned Freshman of the Year honors and was named to the All-Conference Rookie Team.  As a redshirt sophomore he led the team in rushing with 464 yards, and tied the team lead with four rushing touchdowns.  He caught 19 passes for 116 yards, and one touchdown.  As a redshirt junior he was second on the team in rushing with 292 yards and one touchdown.  As a senior he received the CAA Commissioner Award for Academics.
