Upper School Spanish Students Score Big on National Spanish Exam

Congratulations to our Spanish students who received impressive scores on the National Spanish Exam. Out of 18 gold medalists in South Carolina, eight were from Hammond while nearly 50% of all silver and bronze medalists in the state were also Skyhawks. Additionally, Preston Swarat was one of only seven students in the nation awarded a Kevin Cessna-Buscemi Global Citizen Scholarship. This scholarship allows her to participate in a week-long Spanish immersion camp this summer sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, as well as the Concordia Language Villages. This scholarship is awarded based on results on the National Spanish Exam last year, an application, recorded spoken interview, and teacher recommendation.
