Chris Herren Speaks on Wellness and Adolescent Substance Abuse

As part of Hammond’s on-going wellness initiative, nationally renowned presenter, Chris Herren, spoke to 8th-12th grade students and parents about adolescent substance abuse.  A celebrated basketball star, Herren played at Boston College and Fresno State, two seasons in the NBA, and seven seasons overseas before losing to the disease of addiction. In 2011, he founded the nonprofit Herren Project that helps empower schools and communities to make health and wellness a choice. His message helped spark honest conversation on the topics of substance use disorder and wellness, exploring "why" and focusing on the first day rather than the last.
