Alumna Kara Burgess Glenn '96 Joins the Upper School Office

After graduating from the University of South Carolina, Kara worked in Marketing at First Citizens Bank and then as a Sales Representative with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. After a stint as a personal trainer when her children were young, she joined the staff at Downtown Church as their Director of Operations. This experience will serve her well in supporting Upper School students and faculty members.

“The Upper School Assistant role seemed like the perfect fit to me,” said Kara. “I will be able the use the skill sets I’ve developed throughout my career to help further the vision of Hammond. It was also be great to work with Jody, as we graduated from Hammond together.”

Kara was an active Hammond student, involved in a variety of activities such as student government, cheerleading and the Civinettes service club, and she has great memories from her class trip to Belize and Guatemala.

An active alumna, Kara participates in alumni events and uses the online app, Evertrue, to stay connected to classmates.

“I have enjoyed catching up with old friends and connecting with alumni I may not have known about our shared experiences from our time at Hammond.”
