Margaret Clay '06 to Return to Campus to Address 2018 Cum Laude Inductees

Hammond is pleased to welcome Margaret Clay '06 back to campus to address the 2018 inductees to The Herbert Barks Chapter of the Cum Laude Society. Hammond's Cum Laude Society was the second chapter chartered in South Carolina and is considered a Phi Beta Kappa equivalent in secondary education recognizing academic achievement, honor and integrity.

Margaret works in the family business as the editor and associate publisher of Columbia Metropolitan Magazine. During her time in the Upper School, Margaret was inspired by teachers such as Dr. Ragan, Mr. Purday, Mr. Fowler, Dr. Matthusen, Mrs. Dunne and Mr. Neal. She followed her passion of English majoring in it at Wake Forest University.

Aside from her studies, some of her favorite Hammond highlights were playing basketball and traveling to Belize with her senior class. Reflecting on her time at Hammond, she would offer the following advice to students, "Find your passions and make every effort to pour yourself into developing them. While hard work takes sacrifice, you will never regret pushing yourself to your limits."
