Dr. Sanjay Gupta Zooms with First Graders

Dr. Sanjay Gupta joined Ms. Jenkins’ first grade class by Zoom as part of studies leading up to American Treasures Day.  Each class in the lower school was assigned an individual who represents the varied heritages that make up the tapestry of America.  Each class immersed itself in the background and profession of these hall of fame members.  Dr. Gupta is an neurosurgeon, author, and reporter. He serves as associate chief of neurosurgery at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, associate professor of neurosurgery at the Emory University School of Medicine, and chief medical correspondent for CNN. First graders masked up and served as reporters themselves, asking Dr. Gupta a wide range of questions from his decision to become a doctor, what it was like for him as a first grader, and what is his main job, being a medical doctor or a medical correspondent. Having the opportunity to meet Dr. Gupta by Zoom helped bring this hall of famer to life for our first graders.
