1. Focus and do well in your classes. All colleges request a final transcript. Do not jeopardize your acceptance by posting grades lower than those by which you were accepted. Seniors enrolled in AP coursework should remember that AP exams are just around the corner.

2. Keep a list of all scholarships you are offered and the amounts awarded. The College Counseling Office will ask you for this information in late April or early May.

3. Revisit schools if you need help making your decision. Make arrangements in advance with teachers. Notify the Upper School Office of your travel plans in advance. May 1 is National Decision Day. You will need to make your choice and notify all colleges of your admission acceptance or declination by this date. You will need to do so in writing. Remember: End-of-the-year transcripts will be sent to the one college you designate as your college of choice.

4. If you are still attempting to qualify for the LIFE scholarship (SAT 1100/ACT 24, GPA 3.0) or the PALMETTO FELLOW SCHOLARSHIP (SAT 1400/ACT 32, GPA 4.0), you can take the SAT/ACT through the June test dates. The SAT is offered May 3 and June 7. Register online at www.collegeboard.com. The ACT is offered April 12 and June14. Register at www.actstudent.org.

5. Register online for SAT II’s if you need to do so. Check individual school requirements for the college you will attend. SAT II’s are given in May and June.

6. Keep Mrs. Bickley posted as you receive admission/scholarship decisions.

7. Check the Daily Announcements for important information. This is especially important over the next eight weeks as we approach graduation.

8. Continue to check Hammond School College Counseling website for scholarship information as it comes available. Make it a point to contact Financial Aid offices at the colleges to which you have applied and ask about institutional scholarships and financial aid opportunities.
