Why Give?

Hammond School could not exist without the support of the Hammond family—parents, alumni, grandparents, trustees, faculty/staff, and other friends and volunteers.

Their commitment to Hammond is uplifting and inspiring, and allows the school to carry out its educational vision to build our students in mind, body and spirit. Support to Hammond comes in two main ways—gifts of time and gifts of “treasure.”

Volunteering at Hammond can take many forms: staffing the concession stand at a football game, serving as a homeroom parent, making calls for a phonathon, assisting with the auction, stuffing envelopes, selling gift wrap, or even organizing a golf tournament. Whatever your talent or passion, and whatever your available time commitment, Hammond School could use—and most of all, appreciate—your help.

Hammond: Empowering Students to Change the World.

Tuition and fees do not cover the total cost of educating our students. As is the case with most independent schools, Hammond solicits tax-deductible gifts to cover the difference between tuition revenue and the school’s actual operating costs. The money raised through tax-deductible donations to the Annual Fund is put directly into the operating budget to cover those costs not funded by tuition. From time to time, specific campaigns are needed to provide principal funding for our endowment, as well as to pay for capital improvements to our campus.

The amount each family and individual gives is a personal decision. Your contribution—along with those of all donors—directly enhances a child’s education, and we hope that all members of the Hammond community will participate to the best of their ability. In terms of gifts to capital and endowment purposes, current students benefit from the generosity of those past donors whose capital gifts built our existing facilities and endowment. It is our hope that our current families will likewise generously contribute for the Hammond of tomorrow.
