Hammond School in conjunction with the University of South Carolina has been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation. On Monday, February 8, the NSF officially announced the award. The title of the grant is CAREER: Algorithms for Minimalist Robot Teams. Maria Swygert, Hammond’s Education Technology teacher, co-wrote the grant last summer with USC’s Robotics professor, Dr. Jason O’Kane. Hammond’s impact will include participation in the testing of the "covertly educational" game software, resources, and manuals for middle and upper school students.
Through this resource, Hammond will be able to develop a more rich and involved technology resource for our middle and upper school students. This grant will provide the school the opportunity to be a vital part of education research and development, pilot-testing, evaluation, and revision of new and experimental and innovative pre-college curriculum.
