Hammond wins four awards at SCISA state fair

Hammond took eight students to Orangeburg for the state SCISA science competition, and brought home four awards. Alex Rice took second place in behavior biology for her presentation on cell phone texting and driving, while Ayan Dasgupta placed second in the physical science category for his investigation of cell phone radiation. The team of Sherry Shu and Maria Wei took first place for their group study on Archimedes method and Hui Lui's method of the value of Pi. Stella Wang, who investigated the effects of cooking on catrotenoids, took first place in biology.

The students who presented at the fair included Preston Levy, Stella Wang, Tia Eskridge, Maria Wan Wei, Sherry Chang, Ayan Dasgupta and Bailey K Schmidt. They were mentored by Dr. Aruna Dasgupta.
