The
much awaited structural/interior renovation of Manning
Hall is well underway and is expected to be complete
in early August 2005. Although weather affected the
initial replacement of the roof, work continued around
the clock in order to make up for lost time, and contractors
are now able to focus on the interior.
It became apparent that Manning Hall
would require structural work when inspectors discovered
the trusses were rapidly deteriorating due to a chemical
fire retardant that was originally used. The new trusses
have been constructed of steel in order to protect
against future deterioration. Manning Hall is the final
building on the Hammond campus to have the roof replaced.
Some additional enhancements are being
made to Manning Hall during this process and are listed
below.
