Hammond Sixth and Eighth grade students participated in the annual Middle School Science Fair, February 14th and 15th. On Day 1, professionals from the community were recruited as judges and treated to the daunting task of assessing close to 100 projects and oral presentations related to the field of science through chemistry, engineering, biology and many other scientific areas. Day two offered students and parents the opportunity to learn more about their peer's and children's thoughtful and often times creative use of the scientific method.
"It's been a wild couple of weeks," said sixth grade science teacher, Charlotte Talley while taking a much needed breather between day two's visitor sessions, "but the students have really latched on to [the scientific] process and I am proud of their work."
* These student's research papers were also selected to represent Hammond School in the South Carolina Academy of Science's Research Project and Presentation competition.
Congratulations to this year's participants and winners.
