Select Ensemble Returns from The Czech Republic -
1/04/07
On Wednesday evening, January 3, 2007, students and sponsors of the Hammond Select Ensemble returned from an eight-day choral performance tour of the Czech Republic. Specifically, the students spent time in Prague, Kutna Hora, Cesky Krumlov and Brno. This year's international tour was a wonderful success amid chilly yet fairly dry conditions.
"It was pretty cold..." said choral director, Steven Hillard, "fortunately, singing a full performance in venues such as the Czech Republic boasts, warms you up pretty quick." During the tour, the Select Ensemble was able to perform
at St. Nicholas on the Square in Prague and in the
Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul in Brno.
The choral group was very well received, performing for an audience of nearly 400 in Brno that gave a standing ovation that lasted more ten minutes. A return performance will be presented this Sunday, January 7 at 7:00 P.M. in the Bank of America Theater on Hammond School's main campus. For directions to Hammond click here.
