3rd Graders Present the South Carolina History Play - 4/30/07
Culminating a year-long study of all things South Carolina, Hammond third graders presented a star-studded play on South Carolina, covering everything from the mountains to the sea, and just about everything in between! A parade of the famous and the infamous graced the stage as the class told the story of South Carolina from its earliest years through today.
The audience was wowed by the likes of Blackbeard, Strom Thurmond, Joe Frazier, Governor Mark Sanford, and Rebecca Motte, to name just a few. Interspersed throughout the production were some of South Carolina’s most beloved songs. Rounding off the play were three couples dancing the state dance---the shag--- followed by a parade of South Carolina symbols.
The spectacular production left everyone proud to say that “yes, we live in the very finest state of the U.S.A.!”
