New Building is Officially Dedicated as Barks Hall - 5/4/06
On Thursday, May 4 at 1:45pm the student body and friends of Hammond and Dr. Barks convened on the front lawn to name Hammond's newest building Barks Hall. Coach Bill Curry was the guest speaker and the Select Ensemble Choir sang selections from this spring's concert tour to Italy.
Dr. Barks has been Headmaster of Hammond for seventeen years and under his leadership it has moved from a school of 466 to the largest independent school in South Carolina.
Dr.
Barks will be named Headmaster Emeritus and will continue to be related to Hammond as a resource for the building of an endowment. Barks describes his years at Hammond as the most exciting and challenging years of his life and in his words, "It has been a privilege to be associated with such a wonderful board, faculty and a great student body."
