  1. All juniors and their parents should plan to attend the Junior College Counseling Night on Monday, September 10, at 6:00 in the Bank of America Theater. This is a mandatory meeting hosted by Mrs. Bickley. You don’t want to miss it!
  2. Above all else juniors should concentrate on doing well in classes. College admissions committees sometimes weigh junior and senior grades more heavily. Nothing takes the place of doing well in a rigorous curriculum. Make no mistake: Your junior year is a very important year. Start strong. Maintain your momentum.
  3. Juniors are invited and encouraged to attend sessions with college representatives visiting Hammond. Visit schedules are posted on the Hammond School College Counseling webpages, in the Daily Announcements and on the bulletin board outside the College Counseling Office well in advance. (Juniors must get permission in advance from the subject area teacher whose class will be missed and are responsible for any work missed.)
  4. Juniors will be taking the PSAT on October 17 at Hammond. Watch future College Counseling Junior Bulletins and check the Daily Announcements for PSAT prep information.
  5. College Tours for juniors will be November 13-15 (Tuesday-Thursday). Juniors will choose between an in-state tour (College of Charleston, Citadel, Presbyterian, Wofford, Furman, and Clemson) and an out-of-state tour (tentatively: Elon, Davidson, Wake Forest, Washington and Lee, University of Virginia, North Carolina at Chapel Hill and possibly Virginia Tech). Further information will be made available as plans are completed.
  6. Consider attending the Colleges That Change Lives Information Session and College Fair on Sunday, August 26, 5-7 pm at The Westin Buckhead in Atlanta. Go to www.ctcl.com for details
