Community Service
At Hammond, community service is a matter of the heart. Each grade chooses and organizes volunteer projects every year. Hammond students enjoy their roles in these projects and often research worthy causes to bring to the school's attention.

Favorite endeavors include:

  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Harvest Hope Food bank
  • Children's Chance
  • Finlay House
  • Walk for Diabetes
  • Walk for Breast Cancer
  • Civinette's Camp
  • The Margaret Juan Clinic in Belize, Central America
  • The Pencil Project

Through learning about the school community as well as the larger world, students begin to recognize the contributions they can make as young leaders.

I am one of the Beta Club members from Hammond School that helped the Pencil Project greatly. This experience helping kids around the world that I don't know and probably never will, meant a great deal to me. My family and I enjoy helping charities like the Pencil Project. Hammond School donated over 17,000 pencils to some kids in South Carolina, Africa, and Vietnam. When we found out the total, every person in the room was shocked. We helped 17,000 kids, put 17,000 more smiles in the world with just pencils. That was the best part for me. Knowing that kids like me and my peers could make such a huge difference in the world helped me realize how fortunate I was and how much more I could do. Doing good for the community makes me feel great that I helped people.
Sincerely,
