Before the varsity match against Porter-Gaud, Hammond retired Liz Price Brewer's #4. Liz is the only volleyball player in Hammond's history to play volleyball at the NCAA Division I level. Liz played at the University of South Carolina from 1999-2002. She was a defensive specialist all four years and an Academic All-SEC selection for Coach Kim Hudson. While at Hammond, Liz was a standout student-athlete who excelled at volleyball and basketball. She was an all-region, all-state and North/South All-Star during her junior and senior seasons while playing for Coach Paige Edwards. In 2002, Liz returned to Hammond and coached the varsity team. Liz currently lives in Columbia, very close to Hammond, and is married to Ryan Brewer. Liz and Ryan have a five-month-old daughter named Elle.
