On another October Saturday, the Lady Skyhawks emerged as the SCISA State Champions.  The Lady Skyhawks placed six runners in the top fifteen, led by freshman Atieno Adongo's fourth-place finish (20:50), to earn its third consecutive state title.  The title is Hammond's eighth in ten years under Coach Noel Schuch.  "My girls are very smart," said Schuch.  "They understand that the individual performance is not nearly as important as the team's finish.  They are able to work together without any rivalries." Besides Adongo in the top ten, Montgomery Taylor (21:00) finished in sixth place and Rachel Price (21:13) finished in eighth.  Ellen Paige Way, Sarah Dobbs, Mason Castles and Toni Priester rounded out Hammond's top seven.  Hammond scored 44 points in first place and its closest competitor was second-place St. Joseph's with 71 points.

The Skyhawks finished in overall eighth place in the state meet with senior Dillon Brady leading the way for the Hawks. 

The Lady Skyhawks won their second consecutive region championship on Wednesday, October 18, at Heathwood Hall.

Freshman Rachel Price came in first place with a time of 19:36, nearly shaving an entire minute off of her personal best.  Freshman Atieno Adongo finished in fourth place (20:24).  Eighth grader Sarah Dobbs came in tenth place (21:30). 

The Skyhawks finished in fourth place ahead of Augusta Christian and were two points behind Heathwood Hall.  Arthur Corontzes and Dillon Brady continue to pace the team.  Both teams will be competing in the SCISA State Championships at Heathwood on Saturday, October 28.
